UV-curing resin using biomass materials

In recent years, as global warming has become a global environmental issue, reducing CO2 emissions, which have a high greenhouse effect, is posing us a challenge. The issue of industrial waste disposal for products is gaining attention, and especially when it comes to plastic products in particular. Considering the current situation from the concept of carbon neutrality, biomass-derived materials are said to have no impact on the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere even though they produce CO2 during incineration, because the carbon atoms generated are those contained in CO2 before photosynthesis. Therefore, products using biomass-derived materials can be considered environmentally friendly. This fact prompted ThreeBond to develop adhesives using biomass-derived raw materials. The newly developed product contains 45% biomass materials and can be used for general purposes, making it both easy to use and environmentally friendly.

Development points

We are applying biomass-derived materials in development targeting general-purpose UV-curing resins. In this way, we expect to contribute to reducing the impact on the environment. The newly developed product can also be cured by UV-LED. This helps to reduce the energy required for curing the adhesive.
ThreeBond 3049, a resin cured with UV that uses biomass materials, exhibits properties similar to those of conventional general purpose products and has good bonding strength to various components, allowing its use in a range of locations.
