Highly reactive UV-curing resin with reduced cure shrinkage for medical equipment
The medical equipment market is one of the largest industries in the world, and the market is expected to grow steadily into the future. In this industry, adhesives are often used in treatment devices such as catheters, syringes, and endoscopes, and the demand for UV-curing resin is increasing because of their ability to shorten takt time. ThreeBond develops the ThreeBond 3094 Series UV-curing resins for medical use, and they are used in various applications, including bonding of syringe needles and infusion tubes.
Features
- High reactivity.
- Curable with UV-LED (365 nm).
- Excellent adhesion to glass, metal, plastic, and other materials.
Uses
- Bonding of medical devices such as needles and needle hubs
Development points
The newly developed ThreeBond 3094J uses a new monomer to achieve reduced cure shrinkage and higher reactivity compared to the conventional ThreeBond 3094D. In addition, it can be cured by UV-LED (365 nm) as before, showing good bonding strength to various materials.
Properties and general characteristics
Reactivity
ThreeBond 3094J has been confirmed to demonstrate the same performance as ThreeBond 3094D, while achieving reduced cure shrinkage. The results of reaction rate measurements by FT-IR showed a higher rise rate in the reaction rate of ThreeBond 3094J, allowing the reaction to complete in a short time.
